ITD eyes potential animal detection systems, wildlife crosswalks — 2 Comments

  1. There is one glaring error in this article. The advisory vote only concerned whether or not to install over passes with fencing, there was never a vote on which alternative was preferred by the voters. To say that ADS systems are the preferred alternative of the community is false. It may be preferred by a small, vocal minority but there is no way to know which alternative is preferred by the community as a whole since none of the other alternatives were voted on. According to the comments received by ITD, overpasses were, by far and away, the preferred alternative. Over 80% of the property owners in this community are not registered voters here and were not allowed to vote in this issue which has the same effect on them as it does on a registered voter. Any vote is not representative of the community as a whole.

  2. The heads up display allows drivers to see pedestrians or animals entering their path before their eyes can detect them in the dark, potentially providing the driver with increased reaction time to avoid a crash.
